Lectors
Lectors play a critical role in the celebration of the Mass by proclaiming (not reading or reciting) the Word of God.
Since they proclaim not just any word, but the Word of God, it is essential that they develop the spirituality and skills required to communicate God's message competently.
Ushers and Greeters
The Ushers and Greeters serve as a Ministers of Hospitality, welcoming all who come to St. Philips.
These ministers serve a crucial role as they are often the first members of our community visitors meet. The usher ministry at St. Philips is open to men, women, singles, couples, families, youth, young adults, and seniors.
Music Ministry
God is present whenever people sing his praises.
Singing together in our parish community helps our faith to grow when it is well expressed in song. It is not only about vocal ability but the desire to sing for our love of God. -U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, 2007
Altar Servers
The Altar Servers of the parish serve at Mass as acolytes to assist the Priests, Deacons, and the whole worshiping community in a prayerful celebration of the Eucharist. They are expected to dress neatly and to arrive early.
Altar Servers responsibilities include: bearing the cross in the entrance procession, assisting with the sacred vessels, the presentation of gifts, and the use of the Sacramentary. Boys and girls, grades four to twelve, are trained throughout the year
Eucharistic Ministers
Eucharistic Ministers
In the early church and for several centuries afterwards it was a common practice to have the non-ordained distribute communion at the celebration of the Eucharist.
They also served those who were not present by bringing the Eucharist to the sick or homebound.
Eucharistic ministers are called from the community as its representative. He/she is to be what they are. All are called to be the presence of Christ.
